The roadmap page counts tokens and charts them
Two weeks ago aidlc cost and aidlc metrics switched to tokens first. The roadmap page did not.
Open aidlc roadmap view and every finished feature still said what it cost in dollars, and every
release heading added those dollars up. On a Claude or Codex subscription nobody is charged those
dollars. The number looked precise and told you nothing about the plan you were actually spending.
The ledger already knew better. It records every feature's usage split four ways: input, output, cache read and cache write. The page showed none of it.
What changed
Every cost on the page now leads with tokens, in the same format aidlc cost prints, and the dollar
figure follows it labelled as an API price:
45.2M tok · API price $17.38
That is what the same usage would cost at API rates, which a subscription does not charge. It stays, but it comes second.
There is also a fourth tab, Usage. It lists every shipped feature, most tokens first, with one bar for each of the four types and the number printed beside each bar. On this repository that is 188 rows. The biggest one reads input 7k, output 2.7M, cache read 816.0M, cache write 29.9M.
Where nothing was recorded, the page says "no data". It never says 0 and never says $0. That was 25 of the 188 here. A feature nobody measured is not a free one, and a zero would let you think it was.
Why one scale per type
Look at that biggest row again. Cache read is almost all of it. One shared scale would draw a long cache-read bar and three bars too thin to see, on every row. So each type is scaled to its own largest value on the tab, and any bar that is not zero is drawn at least two units wide. You can't compare the length of an output bar with a cache-read bar any more. You can see which features wrote the most and which ones kept re-reading their context, and that's what I wanted to know.
The chart is plain SVG inside the page, with no chart library. The page allows only its own style and script, so the bar colours come from the stylesheet and are checked for contrast in both themes. Each row is one image with a label that reads out the feature and its four numbers.
What it does not do
It is per feature only. There is no breakdown by phase, and it does not know your plan's limits or how much quota is left. The cards on the Board still show no cost at all, as before. Usage also makes the page bigger: on this repository the tab adds 289 KB to a 2.88 MB file.
